Riding 2,000 miles for a motorcycle rally might sound like a challenge to some, but for Jess, it’s just another adventure on two wheels. Gettysburg Bike Week was the destination this time, and with her custom Harley Davidson Road Glide performance bagger loaded up and ready to roll, the journey was just as exciting as the event itself. This trip was extra special—Jess brought along her 12-year-old daughter, Lexi, for her very first bike rally experience.
With the bike securely strapped to the trailer (after some trial and error with ratchet straps), they hit the road, heading north from Florida to Pennsylvania. Road trip rules were established early: one hard-and-fast rule—no asking, “Are we there yet?” Anyone who’s done a long haul knows the pain of hearing that phrase over and over again.
The Rally Experience
Once they arrived in Gettysburg, the excitement kicked in. From visiting Battlefield Harley-Davidson to navigating through the waves of bikes parked across the rally grounds, it was clear that this was going to be an unforgettable experience. Even though the rain threatened to put a damper on the event, luck was on their side, and the skies stayed clear long enough to enjoy everything the rally had to offer.

Of course, no rally would be complete without some solid group rides. Jess and Lexi joined up with other riders to cruise through the scenic Tuscarora Mountains—twisting roads, breathtaking views, and plenty of biker camaraderie. The ride was a reminder of why events like Gettysburg Bike Week are more than just concerts and vendors; they’re about the thrill of the open road and the community that comes with it.

High Rock and Historic Gettysburg
One of the highlights of the trip was the ride up to High Rock, an incredible scenic overlook covered in graffiti, giving it a raw, artistic vibe. Jess took the opportunity to snap a few pictures with her bike against the colorful backdrop, adding to the growing collection of epic road trip photos.
A stop in downtown Gettysburg provided a change of pace from the revving engines and roaring concerts. Surrounded by historic charm, the group found themselves exploring the streets and grabbing lunch. The food was good, and the vibes were even better.

Concerts, Camaraderie, and Good Vibes
As the rally roared into its final night, the crowd gathered for live performances from bands like Saliva and Drowning Pool. Despite Gettysburg being considered one of the smaller bike rallies, the energy at the concert was electric. Packed with enthusiastic bikers, the atmosphere was filled with high spirits and loud engines, proving that size doesn’t always matter when it comes to having a great time.
Throughout the event, Jess and Lexi were met with kindness and camaraderie, experiencing firsthand what makes the motorcycle community so special. Whether it was meeting new friends, sharing laughs, or simply soaking in the rally atmosphere, the trip was already shaping up to be a memorable one.

Floating Down the Shenandoah
As a perfect way to wind down from the high-octane excitement of the rally, the group took a leisurely float down the Shenandoah River in West Virginia. Equipped with a raft, a cooler full of drinks, and nothing but time, it was a much-needed break from the roar of the engines. Drifting along the calm waters, surrounded by lush scenery, it was the kind of moment that reminded Jess why she fell in love with traveling in the first place.
Reflections on the Road
From solo journeys to trips with friends and now family, Jess has built a life on the road that’s fueled by passion and a deep love for the ride. Her travels, which once started out of a desire to break free from waiting for others to join, have now turned into a way of life. With every rally, every road, and every mile, she’s inspiring fellow riders to take the leap and experience the world on two wheels.
